RSS Feeds

RSS

Links to RSS feeds are automatically generated in easyWeb News and Event lists.

RSS2

The Firefox browser includes a dynamic RSS reader that directly interprets the feed file and offers the possibility to subscribe.

RSS feeds (Rich Site Summary or Really Simple Syndication) provide an addressee with short linked blocks of information (similar to a news ticker) without having to call up the actual website. They can be subscribed to using specialized software (e.g. Microsoft Outlook or a web app). Web browsers are also suitable for pure viewing. The Firefox web browser, for example, also allows direct subscription to RSS feeds. RSS thus simplifies the simultaneous monitoring of many different Internet sources, in which changes occur only occasionally, but whose update the reader does not want to miss.

RSS Feeds in easyWeb Standard

The News and Event module automatically generates RSS feeds for these types of articles as soon as they are integrated into the page as a list. These are displayed in the frontend as a link with the official RSS icon above the respective list. To import the feed into the feedreader, the user can now copy the link by right-clicking on the RSS feed icon. Alternatively, the page can be opened and the link displayed in the URL bar can be copied.

iCal

Events can be integrated directly into the electronic calendar via iCal. In the case of lists, all events displayed are transferred to the iCal file. In the example (see first image), two events would be entered into the calendar using iCal. In the detailed view of an event, only the single event is entered.

Hide RSS Feeds

If you don't want your visitors to be able to access and subscribe to a specific instance of your News/Events/FAQ plugin as an RSS feed, you can hide the feed.

To do this, click Plugin Options > Additional in the plugin configuration settings. At the bottom of the menu you will find a checkbox "Hide RSS feed". Check this to hide the feed. If you want to undo the hiding later, you can uncheck it again. Save the plugin to confirm.
