On Tuesday, November 3rd, 2026, we will be rolling out easyWeb standard version 13.2.0. This release introduces new features and expands existing functionalities. The new version is now available for testing on our staging environments.
During the deployment, there will be a brief interruption during which the backend will be locked to prevent data loss caused by simultaneous changes to the database. You can tell whether your site has already been updated by checking the version number in the top left of the backend.
If you have any questions or encounter any issues, please feel free to contact us.
Changelog:
Features:
- Workspaces: Changes to pages and content can now be prepared in the «Draft» workspace, checked in the preview and published afterwards. Available to members of the backend group «Workspace User»; site admins additionally get the «Workspaces» module for publishing. While you work in a workspace, the backend is visibly marked.
- Messages in the backend: Maintenance and system messages appear directly in the backend, in your own language; urgent messages additionally as a dialog and, optionally, as a desktop notification.
- Alternative texts for images: Missing alternative texts can be suggested automatically by AI, and logos are referred to by their name. Empty alternative texts are no longer accepted, and image usages inherit the file's alternative text again.
- Contact box: The map is now interactive and shows several locations with markers, just like the OpenStreetMap element; existing maps are carried over automatically.
- Error pages: Now in the easyWeb design; the «Page not found» page shows one of eleven illustrated Basel motifs at random.
- Cookie notice: Only the services the website actually uses are offered for selection; the notice and the footer link only appear when there is something to choose.
- Social links: New icon for Vimeo.
- Search results: The search term is highlighted in colour in the text snippets of the results.
- User settings: New «Roles» tab listing your assigned roles, for example to find the matching tutorials.
- New OAuth users: The e-mail about new registrations can be turned off in the user settings with «Disable notifications about new oAuth users».
Frontend
- Links in body text now take their colour and arrow from the background they sit on. Previously, links in light columns inside dark containers or in coloured table rows were sometimes hard to read.
- Content elements in one-column containers now look the same on every page; previously their layout followed the width of the surrounding section and differed from page to page.
General
- Security and maintenance updates have been applied.
- The website's stability with malformed requests has been improved; such requests receive a clear error page.
- Database tables and fields that are no longer needed are set aside automatically during the update and only removed for good with a later feature release.
- Internal cleanup: the website's update routines have been consolidated in one place. No visible effects for editors or visitors of the website.
